Gesichter - Jorge Tellaeche

Today I want to introduce to one of my favourite painters in Mexico. His name is Jorge Tellaeche and since quite a while I follow his work and I can tell you... I'm a fan of everything he does!

I had the opportunity to visit him at his studio for some drinks and a nice chat about art... Call me crazy but I felt at home immediately, talking about influences, inspirations, colors, music and creativity.

Jorge was fortunate to be able to study in San Diego for several years, but even though, he never forgot his  Mexican roots. In matter of fact, he took his Mexican-American roots and created a bridge between them. He calls himself "Pochito" because he still mixes both languages and enjoys to feeling in both of them. During the last four years Jorge has developed several projects in painting, graphic design and fashion.
He is the kind of artist that isn't afraid to experiment with new things; as a graphic designer he discovered his passion working with different people in the art scene. Even though he enjoys expressing himself in all kinds of visual arts, he decided to focus on painting, becasue that's what he loves most.
He has worked with international and national companies like Amnesty International Mexico, Adidas, Nestle, Hacienda la Lomita, Comex, among others.

Besides having his own web page where you can see his work, Tellaeche also writes his own blog where you can read about what he is up to;and trust me, since he is doing all kind of crazy projects it's quite helpful to understand his point of view or just what is on his mind while creating new things.
Nowadays he considers himself a fulfilled painter, because through his canvas he achieves to express his dreams, concepts, and ideas.

This is some of his work... I hope you like it!!

Lua Pretto

The world can be as big or small as you want it to. Coincidences do not exist, everyone has the same opportunity to meet new people that show us different ways of living our lives. Nowadays, there are millions of ways to connect with other people, through Social Networks or even word to mouth.

The case of Erika Arguello is a perfect example of what I am trying to say. You can imagine that most of my everyday conversations circle around the love for my work and my obsession to understand other artist's inspirations.

During a recent chat with my friend Toto, he was talking so passionately about Eri (a mexican Designer based in Miami), that I needed to know more about her. After a few emails and some help from my friend, I managed to convince her to interview her via Skype, an idea she loved right away.

Being a person full of life, Erika has been passionate about clothes and design ever since she was a little girl. Although her parents never agreed upon her decision to be a fashion designer, Eri decided to move to Miami to study fashion design. In the beginning was not easy because without the support of their parents, she had to combine work and studies in order to achieve its goal of becoming a fashion designer. Miami International University of Art & Design was her learning platform for 4 years, and when she was about to finish her career, she was lucky to meet a person seeking new designers to showcase their designs in a program to be broadcast in Aruba. She seized the opportunity and managed to convince that person to chose her designs and presented in the program.

Derived from that positive experience, Eri decided to create her own brand Lua Pretto. With the label in her backpack, she decided to spend some time to Cancun, Mexico in order to connect with the local fashion scene. Although the beginning was kind of difficult, she found a way to reach an audience through a group of artists she created. Every member of the group contributed an infinite variety of designs, bringing out the best in each of them. The group is called "La Petite" and has been on the map for almost three years now with the goal to support the creative connection between Cancun and Miami.

Erika and Lua Pretto Incorporate the designer, the brand, the woman behind it and the concept at the same time and I love it! Her concept has no rigid definition, it's more a feeling or a mood. She does not follow trends and she and she is not afraid to break the rules and create new alternatives to look and feel fashionable. According to her, fashion should never be predetermined because it prevents you from going beyond your limits. Taking the risk to create new things is definitely the way to set trends in this business...

I do agree with her and the creative thinking is what I love most about the world of fashion and artists in general. Doing things differently and being original sets the trends, but see for yourself...

Sweet Carey

Stevie & Mada created the perfect photos for the latest edition of Flaunt Magazine. In this occasion the british beauty Carey Mulligan graces each photo wearing stunning designs from Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana and Alexander McQueen. I love how the colors emphasises the silhouette of her and creates a more dramatic atmosphere to the picture.
