There are a lot of talented, creative people in this world and it's always a pleasure when you get the opportunity to meet them to absorb and enjoy their work. Recently I had the privilege to interview Interior Designer Samantha Heyl. Full of new fresh and hip ideas, she is without a doubt a one of kind artist.

Born in Richmond VA and in love with her city, Sam grew up developing a strong connection towards nature, and later in life towards art. Both with she combines to design the most amazing objects, adornments and jewelry.

... Ese es el reflejo de mi amiga Ana; apasionada artista que en su crecimiento constante, busca sobrepasar sus propios limites como creativa para crear cosas nuevas que la hagan sentir plena día a día.
A pesar de ser una persona tímida, Ana tiene la capacidad de transmitir su pasión a través del maquillaje. Su paleta es el cuerpo humano y su inspiración la encuentra en los colores y texturas que se pueden mimetizar en la piel de cualquier persona.

Su amor por el arte estaba más enfocado en la historia y en entender el proceso de los diversos géneros y su evolución conforme al paso del tiempo. Italia fue su plataforma de aprendizaje, y de alguna manera se convirtió en una ventana abierta a diferentes tipos de arte en donde ella pudo descubrir su verdadera pasión, la cual fue el maquillaje.

Ana tuvo la oportunidad de estudiar en BCM (Beauty Center of Milan) donde se desenvolvió en un ambiente artístico. Pudo entender que el maquillaje representaba una inspiración en la moda, la fotografía, el teatro, la pintura, entre otros; compartiendo la misma importancia en un conjunto de detalles.

Creo que Ana es una de esas artistas que disfruta creando nuevos conceptos en conjunto con diseñadores de moda y fotógrafos con los que ella a trabajado (incluida yo), donde su trabajo colorea y embellece el resultado final. Hoy en día reside en la Cuidad de México y en su trayectoria cuenta con participaciones en Mercedes Benz FW México, colaboraciones con fotógrafos como Ricardo Encinas, Alex Cordova, Mike Paz, Juan Pablo Espinoza, e importantes diseñadores de modas donde encontramos a Lydia Lavin, Silvia Bours, yCynthia Buttenklepper, entre otros.

Ana mezcla su trabajo como maestra en SKARA y en proyectos independientes donde solo tiene como objetivo crear el maquillaje perfecto y de cierta manera ser una protagonista indirecta en la obra de arte final!

Gesichter - Montserrat Messeguer

Habiendo nacido en familia de padres artistas y rodeada de una atmósfera creativa, era claro que algún día la predilección estética de Montse saldría a la luz.

Fue muy natural para ella envolverse en este amor por el arte, en donde su vida se convirtió en el canvas perfecto para proyectar una visión mucho mas libre y dinámica de como ella vivía día a día.

Sin embargo, como resultado de los genes inherentes de su madre Lydia, surgió un deseo insaciable por entender el mundo de la moda y fue entonces donde emprendió un viaje a lo que hoy en día es su pasión mas grande.

Montserrat Messeguer estudió en Nueva York y en París, en donde se aventuró en busca su esencia como diseñadora. Actualmente realiza una colaboración continua con su mamá para darle un giro mucho mas juvenil a la marca Lydia Lavín y conjuntamente realiza trabajos de coordinación de moda para diversas marcas de ropa y revistas de moda en México. Sin embargo, sigue paralelamente uno de sus hobbies favoritos, el cual es hacer ilustraciones de moda. Recientemente ha realizado curadurías de moda para exposiciones como Andy Warhol (los años de Bazaar en la Ibero) y en los 50 años de Fashion Group International.

Montse es una soñadora como muchos de los artistas que conozco, pero muy enfocada en lo que quiere hacer. El estar rodeada del mundo de la moda (en la vieja y nueva escuela), la ha echo consiente de la necesidad de expander el mercado de la moda a nivel mundial y es por eso que ella misma a iniciado contactos con gente que puede ayudar a las marcas mexicanas a probar un mercado mas internacional. Su último proyecto fue proyectar la marca de su madre con iconos de la moda como Denni Elias (Chicmuse) para su última colección y con eso hacer un énfasis al grupo de la moda de ayudarnos mutuamente para crecer como artistas y como empresas.

Born into a family of artist and therefore surrounded by a creative atmosphere, it was clear that sooner or later Montse's aesthetic preferences would surface. 
So for her to get involved with art was a natural process, and her life became the perfect canvas to project herself in a more open and dynamic way as time went by.

Montserrat Messeguer left Mexico to study in New York and Paris, where she was able to find her essence as a fashion designer. Currently she works together with her mom to create a much younger touch to the brand Lydia Lavin and acts as a stylist for various clothing brands and fashion magazines. In addition to that, she loves to do fashion illustration, one of her favorite hobbies. She also does fashion curating for exhibitions such as Andy Warhol (the Bazaar Years at the Ibero) and for the 50th anniversary of Fashion Group International.

She is a dreamer like many artists I have met in my series Gesichter, but at the same time very focused on what she wants to achieve. Being surrounded by the world of fashion (old and new school), has given her a more global focus so that is why she has got in touch with people who can help Mexican brands to reach a more international market. Her last project was to promote her mom's last collection for FW Mexico, with fashion icon Denni Elias (Chicmuse) and some how create more consciousness in the local fashion community to help each other to grow as artists and companies.

Gesichter - Esa Mi Pau!

Personalidad la tienen todos, solo que en ocasiones hay gente que sabe destacar lo mejor de si mismo mas que otros y es así como logra diferenciarse de las demás personas.
El mundo de lo creativo se define por la evolución de nuevos conceptos, de visiones vanguardistas o simplemente de una necesidad de diversificar lo ya existente para crear algo novedoso. Cada artista proyecta su amor por algo y en el trayecto, cada uno de ellos, aprende a apreciar el pasado como una base teórica y el futuro como una plataforma a su propia visión de las cosas.

Este es el caso de Paulina, mejor conocida como EsaMiPau! Una DJ mexicana con toda la actitud de provocar nuevos estilos musicales fusionando el pasado con su presente. A pesar de estudiar diseño, Paulina siempre se sintió atraída por la música, de hecho, sus comienzos en ese mundo comenzaron cuando se unió al equipo IBERO 90.9 mientras estaba en la universidad. A la par de su carrera, ella se fue involucrando mas en la locución y se pudo dar cuenta del vínculo tan grande que había entre ella y la música. Estar en la radio le permitió involucrarse con gente que compartía su misma pasión y después de terminar su carrera universitaria, Pau se instaló de lleno conduciendo y probando su lado creativo "mezclando" música en diferentes lugares de la ciudad.

Hoy en día, aparte de ser una de las consentidas en radio IBERO, se mantiene bastante ocupada como EsaMiPau DJ en los lugares más alternativos de la ciudad de México; y por otro lado sigue experimentando fusiones con gente como Jacinto DiYeah (DJ, cantante y productor), donde produjeron un álbum llamado Verano Peligroso.

Sus proyectos a largo plazo no existen, pero su amor por la música la guía y la mantiene viva para lo que venga. Pau es una de esas personas que sigue creciendo y evolucionando constantemente y parte de su formación diaria es dejarse llevar por una buena melodía, canción o sonido... eso es lo que la motiva a seguir adelante y a querer disfrutar y compartir su forma de escuchar y vivir la música.

Gesichter - BOOTIES ON MY FEET

Finalmente después de unas merecidas vacaciones puedo decir que regrese más feliz que nunca!! La verdad es que este viaje a Suiza me lleno de muchas satisfacciones, especialmente porque tuve la oportunidad de trabajar y conocer a gente super talentosa que comparte mi amor por la moda.

Quiero presentarles a una de mis bloggers favoritas, su nombre es Grey Castillo mejor conocida como Booties on my Feet. Esta Dominicana-Americana radica ya desde hace trece años en Zurich, dándole un poco de sabor latino a la cultura europea con su muy particular estilo. Aparte de inspirar a las chicas con sus looks en su blog, Grey también forma parte importante en el mundo fashion como coordinadora de moda en editoriales de Attika, Femina, Belane y Blick AM Abend; y últimamente reportando las nuevas colecciones desde Fashion Week NY, Zurich y Milán. Cabe destacar que mi queridísima Grey también forma parte del equipo de H&M Suiza en donde se encarga de dirigir el showroom de la marca.

Esta mujer sabe seguir tendencias y hacerlas suyas, siempre destacando su personalidad divertida y original. La creatividad es también un desafío para la gente como ella, ya que son iconos de la moda dispuestas a mostrar un punto de vista diferente hacia lo que dicta tendencia hoy en día!

Finally after a well deserved vacation I can say that I came back happier than ever! The truth is that this trip to Switzerland was fantastic, especially because besides my holidays I also had the opportunity to meet and work with super-talented people who share the same love for fashion as I do.

I want it to introduce you to one of my favorite bloggers, her name is Grey Castillo better known as Booties on my Feet. The native Dominican-American has been living in Zurich for thirteen years now, bringing a little Latin flavor into the European culture with her own distinctive style. Besides inspiring others with her looks on her blog, Grey is also an important part of the Swiss fashion industry, performing as a stylist in different editorials for magazines such as Attika, Femina, Belane and Blick am Abend. Alsoshe recently was reporting the new collections from Fashion Week NY, Zurich and Milan. On top of that, my dear friend is also part of the Swiss H&M team, working as a showroom manager.

I have to say, she definitely knows how to spot trends and make them her own, always emphasising fun and originality. Never the less, creativity is also a challenge of people like her, since they are fashion icons of a new kind, willing to offer a different point of view in fashion!

Gesichter - Jorge Tellaeche

Today I want to introduce to one of my favourite painters in Mexico. His name is Jorge Tellaeche and since quite a while I follow his work and I can tell you... I'm a fan of everything he does!

I had the opportunity to visit him at his studio for some drinks and a nice chat about art... Call me crazy but I felt at home immediately, talking about influences, inspirations, colors, music and creativity.

Jorge was fortunate to be able to study in San Diego for several years, but even though, he never forgot his  Mexican roots. In matter of fact, he took his Mexican-American roots and created a bridge between them. He calls himself "Pochito" because he still mixes both languages and enjoys to feeling in both of them. During the last four years Jorge has developed several projects in painting, graphic design and fashion.
He is the kind of artist that isn't afraid to experiment with new things; as a graphic designer he discovered his passion working with different people in the art scene. Even though he enjoys expressing himself in all kinds of visual arts, he decided to focus on painting, becasue that's what he loves most.
He has worked with international and national companies like Amnesty International Mexico, Adidas, Nestle, Hacienda la Lomita, Comex, among others.

Besides having his own web page where you can see his work, Tellaeche also writes his own blog where you can read about what he is up to;and trust me, since he is doing all kind of crazy projects it's quite helpful to understand his point of view or just what is on his mind while creating new things.
Nowadays he considers himself a fulfilled painter, because through his canvas he achieves to express his dreams, concepts, and ideas.

Gesichter - Aldo Decaniz

Hey! there my dear followers, I´m back!!!... It´s crazy how time flies, really! I have been traveling a lot lately and I couldn't find the time to post. But today, the time is right, and I want to introduce you to another one of my colleagues, as part of the series "Gesichter". 

His name is Aldo Decaniz. I met him some time ago almost accidently during New York Fashion Week doing what he does best; trying to get the perfect picture. Something we obviously instantly connected on, along with the way he feels and loves fashion!

He has amazing website called I'm a Samurai, where you can get the proof of his fantastic work as a street fashion photographer. On top of that, Aldo (known as Mr. Kotsni) is also an editor for the magazine called Not Safe for Fashion (NSFF) where he usually makes sure that all the right trends are post on the website. On the other hand, make sure you don´t miss out on his styling tips published in Aloha, a Mexican magazine. As a freelancer, Aldo recently started to work together with Palacio de Hierro, one of the most important department stores here in Mexico, spotting the best street style looks he feeds back to NSFF on a monthly basis.  

For this post, he switched sides so that you can enjoy the pics of some of his outfits, I simply love the way he dresses because he always gets the perfect look. Geschiter - être

Welcome to the fisrt post of the new section which I'd like to call "Gesichter" (that means Faces in German). This section will be a series of portraits of cool people I've come across in Mexico and other countries.

Anyway, first off is José Luis Gonzalez better known as être. He is a real kick-ass fashion designer from Mexico.

I know José Luis since a long time and I can say that I've had the privilege to work with him on some of his campaigns. Some of his major achievements to date are his collection shown at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Mexico; he also became part of IDM (International Designer Mexico) team. In his history as a designer he has won different awards but the must important one is definitely finishing second on Project Runway LA (Latin America).

Even though José Luis has decided to give être a break, that doesn't mean he is not working, in fact he is doing some styling and he is learning new ways of projection. Not so long ago, he was in NY doing an internship with Angel Sanchez and working with Ricardo Seco as a personal assistant. So I'm sure he has a lot more to offer and that he will surprise us with new creative things.
