Holiday Wardrobe 2014 - PART I

Today, let me introduce you to Pablo Parra. Besides of being a graphic designer, Pablo also has an amazing blog, called Fungi Express, where he shows his passion for fashion illustrations. You already know how much I love illustrations, so when I saw Pablo's work I invited him to collaborate with me on this special post. Hope you like it...!!!

The best time of the year is officially here! And no, this time it is not about the season of giving and spending time with family, what I'm referring to is the Holiday party season! Whether your plan is to be naughty or nice this party season, you want to look good, right? This is why I decided to create four different holiday wardrobes to inspire you what to wear on these occasions.
My rule is to focus on one feature piece and add other simple (basic) elements to your outfit.
Over the years I've accrued a number of pieces that usually come out around this time of the year, but it wouldn't be the party season without adding a few new piece.

Here go the first two outfits, enjoy!

Something sparkly
Que otro día del año podemos usar prendas que nos hagan brillar casi como arbolito de navidad (bueno, tal vez Vegas)? Si usar algo brillante te hace sentir un poco nerviosa, escoge una prenda que tenga reflejos brillantes y combinala con piezas básicas que te harán resaltar sin hacerte sentir como disco ball. Yo en esta ocasión escogí unos pantalones con textura brillante de H&M y los combine con una sudadera de neopreno y unos zapatos de holograma. Puedes agregarle algo divertido, como este gorro de Mickey mouse, para darle el toque fiestero. // What other time of the year can you dress like a christmas ornament (well, maybe Vegas)? If dressing wearing something sparkly makes you feel a little nervous, one options is to pair your shiny item with simple separates and accessories. I picked the textured sparkly pants by H&M and I styled it with a neoprene sweatshirt and hologram heeled sandals. Added something fun to get the "party mood", like I did with this Mickey mouse hat. 

Meagan Morrison

It's been a while since I last posted some fashion illustrations, but the truth is that I couldn't find an artist that blew my mind with his or her art. 

I stumbled upon Meagan Morrison randomly and I immediately fell in love with her work! It's keeps being so refreshing to get inspiration from people that understand their passion and the ones who follow their heart to fulfill their dreams.

I really love how Joana captured the essence from each person and shows their different personalities in all these funny little side notes... So tell me, which fashion icon goes more with you!

Colors, Magical Animals and Little Girl

Esta primavera me hizo recordar lo feliz que me hace ver y sentir los días soleados, donde los colores se ven mas intensos y claros. Somefield es un artista cuya inspiración viene de esos colores, los cuales reflejan felicidad. Me encanta como fantasea con la dimensión de criaturas y como forma una amistad entre persona y animal. El estilo de las niñas es adorable, y de cierta manera se mezcla muy bien con el entorno de cada ilustración.

This Spring reminded me how happy it makes me look and feel on sunny days, where the colors are more vivid and clear. Somefield is an artist whose inspiration comes from these colors, which reflect happiness. I love how fantasizes with creatures dimensions and creates a friendship between the girl and animal. The girl styles is adorable, and somehow mixes very well with the surroundings of each illustration. 

Fashion Horoscope

No les prometo decir como va a ser tu día de hoy o el de mañana... Lo dejo al destino.
Lo único que quiero es que encuentren su signo y se conecten con el.

Colette Sweet Fifteen

Colette is a Parisian boutique and is turning fifteen years! I know the store because of my cousin that lives in Paris and she has been a fan since ever.
To celebrate this aniversary, Craig Redman made 150 illustrations of Colette friends and collaborators in the shape of his alter ego Darcel. This personalities involved fashion icons, photographers, designers and musicians. In this iconic list you can find twin sisters Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Yves Saint Laurent, Karl Lagerfeld, Anna Wintour, Bill Cunningham, Marc Jacobs, André Leon Talley, and so many others.

Marynn

Como ustedes ya saben, tengo una fascinación por las ilustraciones. Como fotógrafa, tengo el conocimiento para tomar fotos capturando momentos, expresiones y emociones. A veces es fácil y otras no tanto, pero al final, es la suerte del fotógrafo, el estar en el momento justo para tomar esas fotos.

Para un ilustrador el desafio es diferente ya que ellos necesitan crear algo de la nada y eso me parece fantástico. En el caso de Marynn, es la manera en como plasma las expresiones, las cuales pueden contar una historia. Me encantan los colores que usa y la manera de dibujar con tanto realismo.

So, as you already know, I have a fascination for illustrations. As a photographer I have the knowledge to take photos capturing moments, expressions and emotions. Sometimes is easy some other no so, but at the end, it's the luck of the photographer to be at the right moment to take those pictures.

For an illustrator the challenge is different because they need to create something from scratch and I think is fantastic. In Marynn's case it's the way she brings out her expressions and tells you a story. I love the colors she uses and the way she draws has so much realism.   

Carine Brancowitz

Tienen que saber que estoy enamorada de las ilustraciones en estos días. Creo que es un nuevo concepto para mostrar tendencias en la moda, mezcladas con foto, e inspiradas al mismo tiempo por la música y el arte.
Carine es una artista francesa; ella sabe como hacer arte usando solo plumas de diferentes colores. Puede hacer obras de arte llenas de dinamismo con texturas y un detalle impresionante. Yo creo que es increíble, y su habilidad para crear escenas únicas es sorprendente. Es como si creara una nueva historia en cada dibujo que hace... solo tienes que dejar que tu mente te diga que esta pasando o que esta apunto de pasar!

I want you to know that I'm so into illustrations this days. I think it is the new concept to show fashion trends, mixing with photos, inspired at the same time by music and art. 
Carine is a french artist; she knows how to make art using just pens of different colors. She can make this master pieces full of dynamism, with textures and impressive detail. I think she is amazing, and her ability to create unique scenes is surprising. It seems that she creates a new story in every drawing that she makes... you just need to let your mind tell you what's happening or what is about to happen!
